Mr. Abdul Jabar Rasool has a varied educational and academic background. His initial training is in the sciences, with a bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology and master’s in Physiology and Biophysics, from the University of Iowa. Following graduate study he spent three years in research at the University of Witwatersrand Medical School, South Africa. During this time he assumed responsibility for the Cell Sorting Laboratory and investigated markers for immunological compatibility of transplant patients.

Mr. Rasool entered international education as a teacher and counselor at Le Bocage International School, Mauritius. His teaching interests include Chemistry and Biology at IGCSE and IB level. As IB diploma program coordinator he managed all regulatory and training requirements for the IB diploma. He has conducted professional development and training programs for faculty on curriculum planning and effective assessment practices, and assumed responsibility for meeting accreditation criteria. During his time in Mauritius he participated in IB conferences in Kenya, Australia and India. As Director of IB programs at Park City School District, Utah, he conducted teacher in-service training and developed curricular material to meet the requirements for IB authorization.

Mr. Rasool holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Brighton, UK, and has a pedagogical interest in the use of assessment practices to promote ‘learning to learn’ skills. He is an avid reader of research that focuses on educational leadership and institutional culture that promotes and supports student learning.
