UPP Scholarships

Scholarships are available for UPP students who plan to continue their studies at Alfaisal University. Scholarships are open for both current UPP students and students who have been accepted for admission to the UPP for the 2008-2009 academic year.  There are two kinds of scholarships:  need-based scholarships and merit scholarships.

Merit-Based Scholarships

Need-Based Scholarships

Common Scholarship Questions

  • What is MOHE Scholarship?
    It is a financial award provided by Ministry of Higher Education to the top 30% of Alfaisal students. In addition to that, to be eligible, the student should fulfill the following requirements:
    • Be a Saudi national.
    • Be of good conduct.
    • Field of study must be one of the specified fields.
    • Must obtain the grade average specified for the partial or full scholarship.
    • Must not exceed the minimum period for obtaining the degree.
    • Study must be on regular (full-time) basis in the national universities and colleges.
  • What are the partial and full scholarships and how do they differ?
    1. MOHE Full Scholarships. An applicant who completed secondary school with an average of 85% and above, and passed the Capabilities Test (general and special) with no less than 65%, or a student who is already enrolled in the university who finished one academic term with an average of not less than 3.75, will be awarded a full scholarship in one of the following fields.
        • College of Medicine with 100% of the fees, with a maximum amount of sixty thousand (60,000) Saudi Riyals annually.
        • Fields of Applied Medical Sciences and Nursing with 100% of the academic fees, with maximum of fifty thousand (50,000) Saudi Riyals annually.
        • College of Engineering – Engineering, Information Technology, other applied scientific fields – with 100% of the academic fees, and with a maximum amount of forty thousand (40,000) Saudi Riyals annually.
        • Fields of Business with 100% of the academic fees, with a maximum of twenty thousand Saudi Riyals (20,000) annually. Ratio of scholarship students in these fields will not exceed 20% of the total number of students.
    2. MOHE Partial Scholarship. A qualified student who completes one academic term in the college with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 will be awarded with a partial scholarship covering 50% of the academic fees in the following fields.
      • College of Medicine: the scholarship will cover (50%) of the academic fees with a maximum of thirty thousand (30,000) Saudi Riyals annually.
      • Applied Medical Sciences: the scholarships will cover (50%) of the academic fees with a maximum of twenty five (25,000) Saudi Riyals annually.
      • Engineering, and Computer and Information Technology: scholarships will cover (50%) of the academic fees with a maximum of twenty thousand (20,000) Saudi Riyals annually.
  • Does the scholarship cover my tuition until I graduate?
    No, it covers only one academic year. The top 30% of students in each college will be updated annually by the Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance, as per the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education.
  • What is the total amount of the scholarship?
    For the College of Medicine students, the total amount of the scholarship is 60,000 SR.  The tuition is 54,000 SR, and the balance is 6000 SR.  The university will use the balance to provide the student with notebook computer.

    For the College of Engineering and Business students, the total amount of the scholarship is 40,000 SR.  The tuition is 54,000 SR, so 14,000 SR will be paid by the student.
  • How can I be eligible for a MOHE Full Scholarship for the next academic year?
    You need to maintain an average of not less than 3.75 and to be among the top 30% of Alfaisal students.
  • How can I be eligible for a MOHE Full Scholarship for the next academic year?
    You need to maintain an average of not less than 3.75 and to be among the top 30% of Alfaisal students.
  • How can I apply for MOHE Scholarships for next academic year?
    The application is sent by the Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance directly to the Ministry of Higher Education. The student does not need to fill out an application or present a request. The awardees will receive a notification letter from the Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance.
  • I’m already covered by another type of scholarship.  Can I still apply for a second scholarship? Students may not receive assistance from multiple sources that exceeds the amount of a full scholarship. You may choose to have one of the two scholarships.
