The University Preparatory Program (UPP) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is currently seeking mathematics and science instructors to join its faculty as of August 2010. The UPP is a preparatory program providing high school graduates with intensive English language training, advanced math and science instruction, and preparation in study/academic skills to ensure future success at competitive universities in Saudi Arabia and worldwide. UPP is sponsored by the King Faisal Foundation and affiliated with a number of tertiary institutions, including Alfaisal University. It was established and is currently managed in conjunction with AMIDEAST, a private American nonprofit organization based in Washington DC.
Instructors work under the supervision of the Math & Science Department Faculty Chair and have duties that include but are not limited to: teaching up to 18 hours per week; marking and providing timely and appropriate feedback on oral and written work; maintaining orderly and accurate account of grades; participating in regular curriculum, syllabus, and course review and development; evaluating textbooks and materials; attending faculty meetings and committees; and maintaining office hours within the regular working hours.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Positions are available for teachers of mathematics (Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus) and science (Biology or Chemistry). A master’s degree in the field, at least three years of relevant teaching experience working with EFL students, and native English language fluency are essential requirements.
COMPENSATION SUMMARY:
Two-year contracts include competitive tax-free salary (based on experience), furnished housing plus utilities, monthly local transportation and communications allowance, airline tickets, paid summer vacation, generous Saudi national holidays, health insurance, excess baggage allowance, professional development allowance, end-of-service gratuity (one-month salary for each year worked), and dependent education benefits for one eligible resident child.
