Living and Working in Jazan
LIVING IN THE KINGDOM
Most westerners considering employment in Saudi Arabia have many questions about lifestyle, cultural customs, religious practices, safety and healthcare. There are many websites as well as expatriate blogs which provide the potential employee with a plethora of information.
Ofttimes, the information seems contradictory and confusing. The reasons are many for the seemingly diverse experiences. Frequently the reasons boil down to who is your employer, which area of the Kingdom are you living in, the period in time in which you live in KSA, your nationality, your gender, and your level of adaptability.

Jazan is located on the Red Sea in the southwest part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Working in Jazan
Jazan is a hot, humid climate. The most appropriate and comfortable attire for this region is lightweight cotton clothing and undergarments. Jackets, collared shirts and ties are reserved for only the most important events.
English is spoken in the community; however, older residents and rural populations possess limited English speaking skills.
All University students and lecturers speak English well.
