Student
Organization Fair
October 31, 2007
The Student Organizations Fair was
held on Wednesday, October 31st at the UPP cafeteria.
It was an occasion for students and teachers to meet
and discuss ideas for student organizations. Teachers
hosted thematic tables, and students circulated among
them. Possibilities ranged from soccer, American football,
and music to chess, archaeology, and student publications,
with sports and music being among the most popular
offerings. It was also interesting to note that several
students expressed their interest in joining more
than one organization.
Both students and teachers had been
anticipating the fair for several weeks. With the
beginning of the first year of the new UPP, everyone
had been very busy with classes, class preparation,
and obtaining textbooks. The fair came at the perfect
moment – when teachers and students felt comfortable
with their routines and had caught up on the explosion
of beginning-of-year work.
Students and teachers will continue
to meet, discuss organization ideas, and apply for
official recognition of their organizations; in fact,
during the fair, three organizations submitted their
applications and are planning activities right away.
Things are off to a good start for UPP’s new student
organizations. They will add a lot of excitement and
learning to the students’ lives.
