The UPP welcomed its first incoming
class on September 8 with a three-day orientation
that familiarized students with academic life, expectations
and policies. Students were able to see first hand
what services and resources are available to them
on campus and had the opportunity to meet and interact
with UPP administrators and faculty who were available
to answer questions about the upcoming term.
UPP director Dr. John Aydelott shared
with students his views about student success, stressing
the importance of utilizing available resources such
as advising services and the Academic Resource Center
(ARC) and getting involved in the extracurricular
activities offered on campus.
UPP’s innovative approach seeks to
integrate English language, the sciences, mathematics,
information technology, and study skills. The curriculum
is designed to help students make a successful transition
to college-level courses and become life-long learners,
critical thinkers and problem solvers. The latest
educational technology is used effectively throughout
the program.
