Something new at the UPP is the Learning Center. The newly opened Learning Center (LC) is open every day from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is a place for students to go for tutoring or just to have a quiet place to study and do homework. The Center is staffed every hour with one English teacher and for many of the class periods a Science or Math teacher is present. The LC is equipped with computers with Internet access and it complements the ARC, which houses many Internet-capable computers, textbooks, and reference materials such as dictionaries and journals.
Student organizations are off to a good start, with students signing up for about ten organizations. Students learned about the available student organizations at the second annual UPP Student Organization Fair, held in the King Faisal Palace. The Fair is one of the most popular yearly activities.
Seven of the organizations have already successfully applied for recognition:
- Soccer Club
- Music Club
- Future Medical Leaders Club
- Archaeology Club
- Art & Photography Club
- Future Business Leaders Club
- French Culture Club
Through the various student organizations, students take part in off-campus sporting events, enjoy off-campus excursions such as fossil collecting in the desert around Riyadh, improve their language and leadership skills, and acquire new interests and make new friends.
