The UPP’s second Parents’ Night was held on January 5, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  The event was held in the ground floor of the Science Building of the Alfaisal University campus, which currently houses the UPP.  Attending the event were almost 50 fathers and mothers of UPP students.

Parents of students had the opportunity to meet face to face with UPP faculty members, administrators, and staff members.  The primary purpose of the Parents’ Night was to allow students’ fathers to get to know their sons’ teachers, inquire about their academic performance, and see samples of the kind of materials and equipment used in classes.  Parents were given usernames and passwords to access the UPP computer system in order to see their sons’ academic performance on a week by week basis.  All parents can use their passwords to access the computer system from their homes at any time.  This system, called NetClassroom is a new innovation of the UPP.

Several science experiments were set up to demonstrate what students learn in classes of physics, chemistry, and biology.  English faculty members displayed the wide range of textbooks and self-study materials available to students.  Photography Club displayed samples of their photographs taken around Riyadh.  Student Association members served as hosts, helping students’ parents find their sons’ teachers among the large gathering of people.  They also lead campus tours.
