UPP Students Attend King Faisal International Prize Symposium
A group of UPP students attended a symposium to honor the winners of the prestigious King Faisal International Prize winners for Medicine. The symposium, hosted by Alfaisal University, was held on March 8 at Prince Salman Auditorium at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and research Center. Speakers at the symposium presented topics covering a range of new developments in the field of medicine, such as calcium as a signal of heart disease and a new method to study brain diseases.
UPP science teachers arranged the trip to the symposium so students could be exposed to top professionals in their field of study. The UPP science teachers hoped to help students realize the high level of commitment necessary for success in their chosen fields. Abdullah Al-Shammari, UPP student, said “I was very glad to have a trip like that. It actually pushed us and put us in an environment of the science world which we need to be familiar with as doctors.” Another student, Malik Kanaan, said “I learned a lot of how scholars present their research and how they answer questions.”
