U.S. Scholar on Presidential Elections Visits the UPP
Dr. Thomas Schaller, a visiting scholar sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, gave a presentation at the University Preparatory Program on Sunday, February 24. The session was attended by students, faculty, and staff. Dr. Schaller is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Maryland at Baltimore, a newspaper columnist, and contributing writer to Salon.com. He has appeared on a number of national news television programs in the United States.
In his presentation, Dr. Schaller explained the process Americans use to choose candidates to be nominees for the presidential election. Students and faculty benefited from his lively talk, interesting anecdotes, and colorful charts and tables.
