The University Preparatory Program of Alfaisal University began its second semester at 8:00, the morning of February 16.  The day began with a General Assembly with all students and faculty.   Director, Dr. John Aydelott, welcomed the students and faculty back and congratulated those students who had outstanding attendance and academic records.  Dr. Aydelott informed students and faculty of a few program changes, explained some of the activities planned for the day and the rest of the week, and reminded students of the keys to success in the program.

Dana Forsythe, Head of Student Services, explained what to expect in the advising meetings that followed the assembly.  Mr. Abduljabar Rasool, Curriculum and Assessment Head, explained to students how they can create Internet profiles to register for upcoming SAT and TOEFL exams.

Following the assembly, students attended advising sessions.  In the UPP, each student is assigned an academic advisor who also serves as a member of the faculty.  Academic advisors distribute students’ mid-term and final grades, discuss students’ academic progress and attendance, help students set academic goals and write plans to reach those goals, and help students understand the program’s policies and official procedures.  In this first mandatory advising session of the second semester, the academic advisors handed out students’ official academic transcripts for the first semester.  They also gave congratulation letters to those students who had outstanding grades, and to those students who had outstanding attendance records.
