A group of UPP students attended a field trip to the Money Experts Company on December 30.  Most of the students were from the Business Pathway, but students from Engineering and Medicine also attended.  Money Experts Company is the first company in Saudi Arabia to provide comprehensive training on how to invest money, especially through the stock market and currency market.

After an overview of the company and an explanation of how the global stock market works, students were invited for snacks and drinks and to ask questions of one of the company’s managers.  Students asked about the current world economic problems, the investing methods of Saudis, and the kinds of workshops available from the company.  Money Experts Company provides extensive training so that individuals know how to invest money themselves, without the need to rely on stock brokers or paid financial advisors.

The question-and-answer session was followed by a live demonstration of the currency market, FOREX.  Using special software that accesses the Internet to display live the rising values of world currencies, a trainer showed how to make money from currency trading.  Using a simulation, the trainer asked a student if he thought the Euro would rise or fall in value against the American dollar.  The student said “rise”.  Three minutes after the trainer put in his simulated order, he had gained a profit of one hundred dollars.

The field trip finished with student comments on things they had learned from visiting the company:  knowledge of the stock market, awareness of the currency market, interest in the idea of training people to be their own financial guides, and understanding of Saudi markets.
